The objective of Action for Nature is to promote concrete projects for the preservation of biodiversity and ecosystems, in particular the Alps, the region where we have acquired an important amount of expertise.

In the heart of Europe, the Alps are close to us in their geography, their populations and their culture.  With a growing number of visitors each year, they symbolise a nature that is still intact and a traditional culture to be protected and share.

Thanks to their isolated position, their different altitudes and different climatic zones, mountains in general and the Alps in particular are an important reservoir of biodiversity, unequal countryside and a wealth of flora and fauna.  They offer ecosystems that are indispensable to the lives of man and animals.  They harbour forests producing oxygen and pure air;  they are a reservoir of ice and water indispensable for life.

The water tower of Europe, the Alpine range offers glaciers, meadows, forests and wetlands, with directly influence on the quality of life and the economy of many European countries (the Rhine, the Rhone, the Po, the waters of the Danube and many more rivers have their springs in the Alps).

But the alpine regions, near to densely populated regions, are also fragile and often in danger of overexploitation, by the excesses of tourism, by the heavy road transport crossing valleys suffering from pollution and dangerous tunnels.  Erosion threatens more than in other areas and the changes in climate can bring undesirable upsets more frightening than in other places.

The preservation of natural mountain areas depends as much on global protection of the planet - especially in trying to limit over-heating -, as on local and individual respect on the part of all of us.

Action for Nature’s intention is to act in accordance with two principles by addressing the generosity of businesses and of individual and institutional donors, in close collaboration with the competent organisations responsible for local projects.

The education of young people towards the environment and raising public awareness by the media are an essential compliment for all actions in favour of the environment.

 

Action for Nature also offers services for the organisation of events, information campaigns, conferences, etc., aiming to promote the protection of nature and the practice of sustainable development.
